Directing Originally coming from a theatre background Giles Alderson was part of the Royal Court and Soho Theatre Writers Programs, where he had many of his plays read and performed before he moved to film and TV. His latest directed live action feature The Stranger in our Bed based on the best selling novel of the same name starring Samantha Bond (Downton Abbey), Ben Lloyd Hughes (Sanditon) and Emily Berrington (Humans) for Buffalo Dragon Productions has just been released onto Showtime in the USA. Out in UK on Sky and Prime. His WWII feature film Wolves of War for Signature Entertainment and Picture Perfect starring Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl), Matt Willis (Allies) and Rupert Graves (Sherlock) was released onto Sky Store and Prime in Sept 2022. His historical action feature Arthur & Merlin: Knights of Camelot he directed for Signature Ent and Picture Perfect, starring Richard Short (Macbeth) Stella Stocker (The Good Liar) and Richard Brake (Game of Thrones) is available now on Sky Store and his directed, written & produced psychological horror debut feature film ‘The Dare’ made for Nu-Image (Expendables, Hellboy) and B2Y Productions starring Richard Brake (31, Batman Begins), Alexandra Evans ((Redistributors), Bart Edwards (Fantastic Beasts), Richard Short (Vinyl, Public Enemies), Robert Maaser (M.I 5 Rogue Nation) won the Audience Award for Best Film at Popcorn Frights Film Festival was released through Lionsgate in the UK. The film was been picked up Millennium Films (Hellboy, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Expendables) and is available now is the US and Canada through The Horror Collective .

His feature Documentary World of Darkness that he produced and directed is a profile of the cult role-playing games 'World of Darkness' and 'Vampire: The Masquerade' that created a phenomenon in the 90s - a zeitgeist that helped shape and define film, literature, fashion and club culture. They influenced everything from the TV series 'True Blood' and the 'Underworld' film franchise to club fashions but perhaps their biggest impact was on the fans. had its world premiere at Sitges Film Festival before it’s international release earlier this year.

He is currently filming Food For Thought, the feature length documentary presented and narrated by actor, Born Free Foundation ambassador and animal conservationist, Dan Richardson, who also produces and co-directs alongside Giles. With a positive and inclusive tone throughout, Food For Thought documentary will deliver a relatable version of the plant-based message to the non-vegan majority, aiming to inspire and encourage them as we explore the driving forces behind the fastest growing lifestyle choice in the world. 

Producing Giles has recently released the comedy Three Day Millionaire starring Colm Meaney (Con Air), Robbie Gee (Small Axe), James Burrows (This is England), Lauren Foster and Jonas Armstrong (Robin Hood) for Shush Films, which he runs with Jack Spring was released in cinemas in the UK in November 2022 and is now on Netflix, Prime and Sky in the UK and Hulu and Prime in USA. He also produced Staten Cousins-Roe’s BIFA long-listed debut feature A Serial Killers Guide to Life starring Ben Lloyd Hughes (Divergent) Poppy Roe and Katie Brayben (Dr. Who) which premiered at Fright Fest is available now on Sky Store in the UK and Showtime in the US. The dark sci fi feature Repeat starring Charlotte Ritchie (Ghosts), Tom England (Cosmos) and Nina Wadia (Aladin) won the London Scifi Audience Award and the dark found footage horror feature film Followers for Parkhouse Pictures (Anna & the Apocalypse) which also premiered at Fright Fest starring Harry Jarvis (Free Dance) Nina Wadia (Bend it like Beckham) & Loreece Harrison (Black Mirror) both released in Nov 2021. He also co produced the Danny Trejo starring Bullets of Justice released through The Horror Collective in 2021.

He produced This Way Out for Forward Motion Pictures which was BAFTA long listed short film which screened at over 30 festivals & acquired by the Sundance Channel. He has directed and produced 8 award winning short films, including, ’Barry Brown', ‘Taken', 'Sports Day 3D', the first live action stereoscopic 3D drama filmed in the UK, and winning best film & best director for his psychological drama ’ 47 Cleveland’. He has screened at Cannes Short Film Corner, won Best Film at the Portobello Film Festival & Accolade Film Festival, Official Selection at LIFF and East End Film Festival.

He won Best Director, the Award of Excellence & Best Film at the Accolade film awards for his latest short film ‘The Heart of the Forest’ starring Lourdes Faberes (Knightfall, Someone You Love) and Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist, The Defenders) which has been acquired by Shorts TV and Indie Flix.

TV  He has recently directed the second series of The Girl Whisperer a comedy written by & starring Ralf Little for Little Rock Productions and directed the pilot teaser for Ruby Rock’s The Heartless.

He is in post on his new directed TV series Not For Profit starring Hanna Alström (Kinsgman), Annica Liljeblad (The Square) Bart Edwards (The Flat Share) & Dan Richardson.

He has made many promos, adverts and brand media films for brands including Iceland, Ralph Lauren, Dixons, New Balance, Lucozade, WaterAid and UKAT.

He has also acted in many films and TV shows including The Damned United, I Want Candy, Coronation Street and The Silence.

 He runs & is the host of the indie film-making podcast Thefilmmakerspodcast.com

HISTORY

Giles started his career as an actor, after graduating from Drama Studio London he started in Shakespeare plays, wrote plays at The Royal Court and Soho Theatre young writers program, toured the UK and performed in the West End in plays and musicals before acting in the feature films including ‘I Want Candy’ (Ealing Studios), ‘The Harsh Light of Day’, ‘The Damned United’ (BBC Films), ‘The Banksy Job’, ‘The Possession of David O’Reilly’ and TV including Coronation Street and The Silence (BBC) before turning his hand behind the camera making promos and adverts and brand media before making feature films and TV ,

Giles created and hosts the popular podcast on film-making, screenwriting and directing called The Filmmakers Podcast which is a podcast about how to make films. From studio films to micro budget films and get them made, how to make them and how to try not to f.. it up in their very humble opinions.
